For some items, you are required to specify an expiration date within your box contents information when you are sending a shipment to Amazon. Many times you will see them for the grocery and healthcare categories. We give you the option to provide this while listing within InventoryLab.
How do I know if the item I'm listing requires an expiration date?
While listing, InventoryLab will automatically check if the item you are adding to your batch requires an expiration date. If it does, you will see a Product Alert in search results and a warning message next to the Expiration field, both saying the item requires an expiration date.
You can also visit the help pages in Seller Support regarding expiration dates.
How do I add an expiration date to my listing?
You can do that while listing. To do so, follow the instructions in our Expiration Date Option article.

I forgot to add an expiration date but did not receive an error for the item. What happened?
If Amazon flags a product as requiring an expiration date, we make it a required field in InventoryLab. That means you'll never miss a properly flagged item by accident.
However, there are some items that need expiration dates but are missing the flag. Amazon may not have marked them, or the flag may have been removed somehow.
You can enter the dates at any point during the Find It step by editing your items. If you realized you forgot the expiration date during the Box It or Ship It step, though, you'll need to close your batch and then restore it to go back to Find It.
We recommend reaching out to Seller Support and asking them to add the flag to your product if you plan to sell it again in the future.
I forgot to add an expiration date before creating a shipment. What do I do now?
First, void your shipment. You can do this anytime within 24 hours of creating an SPD shipment or 1 hour of creating an LTL shipment.
Next, if your batch isn't closed already, close it now. Once it's closed, restore it. This will take you to the end of the Find It step, with all your items in your batch. You can then edit the item to change its expiration date.
Do I need to add an expiration date to my listing if I am not adding box content information through InventoryLab?
Yes, you must always provide the expiration date if it is required by Amazon. In the old API, expiration dates did not carry over if you had box contents off, but that is no longer the case in List 2.0.
Does InventoryLab give the option to print an expiration date label?
Yes! See our Printing Labels with Expiration Dates article to see how to turn this feature on.
Can I add multiple expiration dates for the same MSKU in a batch?
No, unfortunately, you cannot. You must create a new MSKU in a new batch for each expiration date.
