How to Create a New MSKU

Learn how to create a new MSKU for existing inventory items and track creation progress, statuses, and history.

If you are listing an item that already exists in your Inventory but do not want to use the existing MSKU, you can create a new one.

  1. To create a new MSKU, select + Create New MSKU Instead*.

  2. Enter your Item Listing Details and select Add to Batch.

  3. Navigate to the Batch Content tab to monitor the MSKU creation process.
    Use the Incomplete and All toggle to view the status of all new MSKUs in the batch.

    1. Green means MSKUs that have been created successfully

    2. Orange means MSKUs that are still in progress

    The progress bar displays the following information:

    1. Time elapsed since the process started

    2. Typical time required to create an MSKU

    3. Estimated time the creation process will be completed

    4. Start time of the process

    1. You can also copy the Asin or MSKU, by clicking the button

  4. To hide the progress bar, click the MSKU icon:

  5. Click on the MSKU to view additional details.

    On the left side of the screen, use MSKU Tracking to follow the status of your new MSKUs.

    The selected MSKU will automatically appear in the search bar.


    On the right side of the screen, use MSKU Inspector for additional information about your selected MSKU.

  6. To view other newly created MSKUs, clear the MSKU from the search bar.

    MSKU statuses are color-coded as follows:

    1. Red: Failed to create

    2. Orange: In progress

    3. Green: Created successfully

  7. If you select an MSKU that failed to be created, you can view detailed error messages explaining why the creation was unsuccessful.

    1. If the SKU was created successfully, click View in Seller Central to see it

    2. Click Contact Seller Support to get to the Amazon Help Center

  8. If you select an MSKU that is in progress, you can view its creation status, expected completion time, and related batch details. The MSKU will continue processing in the background.

  9. If you select an MSKU that was created successfully, you can review its creation details, including timing and associated batches.

  10. If you scan or try to add an item already in the batch, you’ll be able to either edit the quantity or add it with a different condition.

  11. To access the MSKU History page, select MSKUs from the bottom-left corner of the screen.
